Greenwich Council's General Purposes Committee has approved a series of councillor appointments to the Pension Board and various scrutiny panels for the 2026-27 municipal year. The changes, confirmed at a meeting on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, involve several councillors taking on new roles.
The appointments are made in accordance with the Council's Constitution, which outlines that the General Purposes Committee is authorised to appoint and revoke individuals to committees established by the Council. Crucially, these decisions are made in accordance with the wishes of the relevant political group.
Councillor Jane Dickenson has been appointed to the Pension Board, succeeding Councillor Sam Littlewood. Councillor Lewis Hurst will now serve on the Audit and Risk Management Panel, replacing Councillor Averil Lekau. Additionally, Councillor Sam Littlewood has been appointed to the Children & Young People Scrutiny Panel, also taking over from Councillor Averil Lekau.
Councillor Averil Lekau will move to the Health & Social Care Scrutiny Panel, replacing Councillor Jeremy Fraser, and will also join the Housing & Neighbourhoods Scrutiny Panel, succeeding Councillor Raja Zeeshan. Councillor Nathan Baffour-Awauh is set to join the Licensing Committee, taking over from Councillor Elizabeth Ige.
