A temporary street trading licence has been approved for a food stall named Healthy Bites
on Chiswick High Road, allowing it to operate for six months from July 13, 2026.
The stall, located opposite 253 Chiswick High Road, will be permitted to sell wraps, salads, soups, juices, and soft drinks between 10:00 and 16:00 daily.
The decision was made by the Hounslow Licensing Panel on July 8, 2026, following objections from local businesses. Concerns raised included unfair competition due to lower overheads, obstruction of the public highway, the use of LPG equipment, waste management, and an over-concentration of food vendors. The meeting information does not specify what specific evidence local businesses presented to the panel, but their objections centred on unfair competition to local bricks and mortar shops who had larger overheads to maintain and the stall would take away business from them.

While the Planning Department initially objected on the grounds that the stall required full planning permission, this objection was later withdrawn. The department stated that On further review we would like to withdraw our objection to this application. We are of the view that it would not be of a scale or degree of permanency that would require planning approval.
The Panel noted that Healthy Bites had been operating from the site since 2019 and that their previous licence included conditions regarding environmentally friendly packaging, cooperation with the Neighbourhood Policing Team, and secure storage of propane cylinders.
The Panel stated that the evidence presented did not justify refusing the application or reducing trading hours, as the stall's menu was considered relatively limited and sufficient pedestrian space would be maintained. The Panel was not satisfied that the evidence justified refusing the application or reducing trading hours, noting that the Council's policy does not require the protection of existing businesses from all forms of competition.

In addition to the standard temporary street trading conditions, the licence was granted with three specific conditions, as detailed in the Decisions Wednesday 08-Jul-2026 14.00 Licensing Panel.pdf:
- The licence holder must use environmentally friendly packaging for all food and drinks sold.
- The licence holder must cooperate with the Neighbourhood Policing Team.
- All propane cylinders must be stored in a suitable, locked, secure, and well-ventilated compound.
The stall's current licence, which expires on July 12, 2026, was granted under delegated authority and had similar conditions. The new licence will commence the following day.
