Farnborough Primary School is set to receive a significant upgrade to its outdoor facilities with the approval of a new children's play area.
The Bromley Council's Plans Sub-Committee No. 2 met on Thursday, July 16, 2026, and granted permission for the removal of existing play equipment and astro turf surfacing, to be replaced with new surfacing and a variety of play equipment, including rope bridges, nets, monkey bars, and balance beams.
The decision, detailed in the meeting's minutes, noted that the proposal would not significantly impact the visual amenities of the area or nearby residential neighbours. Crucially, no objections were received from local residents regarding the new play equipment.
The site is located within the Green Belt, but the development was deemed appropriate as it constitutes facilities for outdoor sport and recreation connected to the existing use of the land, thereby preserving the openness of the Green Belt.
The officer's recommendation highlighted that the new play area would provide enhanced outdoor facilities for the school's recreational activities. The plans submitted show the proposed layout and elevations of the new equipment, designed to be a safe and engaging space for pupils.
