Southwark's Health, Adult Social Care and Community Safety Scrutiny Commission is set to scrutinise the effectiveness of the Southwark Community Safety Partnership (CSP). The commission met on Thursday, July 23, 2026, to discuss its remit for crime and disorder scrutiny, outlining the legal framework, roles, and best practices for examining the partnership's work.
The commission's responsibilities include assessing how effectively the partnership reduces crime and disorder and reviewing its strategies and actions. A protocol is to be developed to formalise how scrutiny will work with the CSP. This protocol aims to clarify roles, responsibilities, and expectations, build trust and cooperation, and define the scope of scrutiny, including what will be reviewed and how.
Furthermore, the protocol will establish information sharing protocols, detailing what data is needed and how it will be accessed, as well as outlining the engagement process for involving partners. It will also detail the response and follow-up process for addressing recommendations.
The commission plans to conduct its first in-depth scrutiny item in October, focusing on drugs, anti-social behaviour, and their links to homelessness.
