The development of a new care home on Asylum Road is moving forward, with key agreements in place and the project on track with its anticipated timeline. The Health, Adult Social Care and Community Safety Scrutiny Commission received an update on the project during their meeting on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
The Agreement for Lease has been signed, allowing Andover Care Ltd to commence the design phase for the care home. A pre-application agreement has also been secured with the Planning Authority, and a planning application is expected to be submitted within the next six to nine months.
In parallel with the planning process, the council is engaging specialist consultants to review the emerging design. The Sustainable Growth North team is seeking quotes from the University of Stirling and the University of Worcester for this review, with an appointment anticipated in August.
Furthermore, Andover Care Ltd has been provided with contact details for voluntary sector groups across the borough to initiate the consultation process with local community organisations.
The project is reported to be progressing in line with expected timescales, marking a significant step towards the development of new care facilities in the area.
