Brent Council is demanding an update from Transport for London (TfL) concerning the ongoing neglect of Staples Corner. This key junction, which is shared with Barnet and Network Rail, has been a point of concern for the council.
At a Resources and Public Realm Scrutiny Committee meeting on Wednesday, 29 July 2026, Councillor Dao emphasized that Brent Council's responsibility for the maintenance of the flyover and roundabout at Staples Corner amounts to only 2%. He further stated that TfL bears 40% of the responsibility for the deterioration observed at the site. Councillor Dao urged the council to actively seek an update from TfL regarding their maintenance priorities and financial contributions to the upkeep of Staples Corner.
Council officers confirmed the shared responsibility for Staples Corner and committed to obtaining an update from TfL on their maintenance priorities and funding contributions.
