Lewisham Council's Mayor and Cabinet has endorsed Lewisham Homes' business plan for 2026-27, a key step in the council's commitment to providing safe and affordable housing.

The plan projects that Lewisham Homes, the council's wholly-owned housing company, will remain financially stable and will not require additional support beyond existing loan arrangements. The meeting also agreed to the refinancing of a £10 million loan that is set to mature in March 2027.

Lewisham Homes currently manages 202 properties, with an additional 181 homes at Milford Towers set to transfer to its management. The business plan outlines the company's aims and objectives for the upcoming year, focusing on maintaining quality housing and enhancing the life chances of its residents.

Councillor Natalie Thomas, Cabinet Member for Safer Homes, Homelessness and Housing Services, noted that while the management of the council's general housing stock returned to the council in 2023, Lewisham Homes continues to play a vital role. She added that the plan projects the company will remain cash positive and will not require additional council financial support beyond existing loan arrangements.

The endorsement of the business plan is a formality, according to Councillor Thomas, but it ensures the company's operations align with the council's housing objectives.
