Lewisham Council has approved the procurement of a new case management system for its adult and children's social care services. The decision was made during a Mayor and Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
Councillor Rotimi Skyers, Cabinet Member for Children, SEND, Youth Empowerment and Culture, highlighted the critical importance of effective case management systems for supporting vulnerable residents and ensuring timely responses to their needs. He stated, These systems are critical to the delivery of our statutory responsibilities, supporting frontline practitioners in children's and adult social care services.
The contract will be procured through the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) Framework RM6259 Vertical Application Solutions for a period of five years, with an option to extend for two further years. Authority has been delegated to the Executive Director for Children and Young People to manage the evaluation, selection, and award of the contract, in consultation with the Executive Director for Adult Social Care and Health and the Director of Law and Corporate Governance.
Councillor Shireen Asaw, Cabinet Member for Business, Jobs and Skills, commented on the importance of such systems, even if they might seem less exciting than other proposals. She emphasized, Especially around services that we provide to more vulnerable residents, it's really important that we have effective case management systems. It's really important that we handle... that we are responsive to people's needs, to people's queries, and that this group in particular are able to reach the people they need to in a really timely manner. And so I just want to make the point that boring tech can be important too.
