Bexley is set to open its first reuse shop at the Footscray Reuse and Recycling Centre, marking a significant step in the borough's waste and recycling efforts.
The announcement was made during the Council meeting on Wednesday 16 July 2025, where Councillor Baroness O'Neill of Bexley OBE, Leader of the Council, highlighted the upcoming opening as part of a broader report on the council's activities, which can be found in the Public Reports Pack.
The reuse shop aims to encourage residents to recycle more and reduce waste. According to the report, the council hopes that the shop will help us divert even more waste to be reused, which will have a positive impact on our recycling rate, the Council's budget and the environment.
