Wandsworth Council has decided to award its new Leisure Management Contract to Bidder B, commencing on 1 October 2025. The decision, made at the Cabinet meeting on 16 June 2025, marks the beginning of a ten-year partnership, with a potential extension of up to five years at the council's discretion.
The contract encompasses the provision of leisure services across Wandsworth. The council has delegated authority to the Executive Director of Environment and Community Services, in consultation with Councillor Paul White, Cabinet Member for Environment, and the Executive Director of Finance, to finalise the contract and ancillary documentation.
The Cabinet agreed to award the contract with the option to extend it for up to a further five years, depending on the council's assessment of the contractor's performance and the evolving needs of the community.
In addition to the contract award, the Cabinet has committed to additional General Fund capital investment in 2026/27, supplementing the £10 million already approved in Paper No. 25-84 for the Leisure Infrastructure Plan. The Report to Council - Cabinet also notes expected financial savings as a result of the new contract. The details of these savings are outlined in the exempt part of the paper (Paper No.25-177A).
The specific improvements or upgrades planned as part of the additional General Fund capital investment in 2026/27 are detailed in a confidential paper, in addition to the £10m already approved in Paper No. 25-84 for the Leisure Infrastructure Plan for investment in the leisure facilities.
