Wandsworth Council has approved the continuation of its CCTV monitoring pilot project on a permanent basis, leveraging additional staffing resources to enhance active monitoring of the CCTV network in conjunction with the Metropolitan Police. The decision was made during the council meeting on 16 July 2025, where the Cabinet approved a positive General Fund revenue budget variation to support the initiative. The CCTV pilot project aims to improve public safety and security across the borough.
The council noted that 75% of the cost will continue to be allocated to Wandsworth, reflecting the greater coverage and activity in the borough, with the resources working across both Wandsworth and Richmond through the Joint Control room.
