Croydon Council is set to benchmark the performance of its planning services against other local authorities, following a recommendation from the Streets & Environment Sub-Committee. The decision was made during a recent Cabinet meeting.
The recommendation came as a result of the Scrutiny Stage 1 Report - July 2025, which suggested developing robust metrics to compare the performance of Planning and Planning Enforcement services against similar councils. The report highlighted potential opportunities for the council to enhance monitoring and evaluation of delivered work and to find more equitable funding solutions. The Appendix 3 - SE 01-04-25 Recommendations further elaborated on this, advocating for the establishment of clear and measurable standards for comparison.
