New flats and commercial space are planned for a site on Wandsworth Road, following a Lambeth Council Planning Applications Committee meeting on Tuesday, 29 July 2025. The proposal includes the demolition of existing buildings and the construction of a mixed-use development, bringing new homes and business opportunities to the Clapham Town area.
The development, planned for land to the rear of 472 Wandsworth Road in Clapham Town, will feature a building ranging from three to six storeys. The ground floor will house light industrial commercial space, while the upper floors will contain 21 self-contained flats, including five one-bedroom, ten two-bedroom, and six three-bedroom units. Plans also include a roof terrace, refuse and cycle storage, and boundary treatments.
In lieu of providing affordable housing within the development, the applicant will make a payment of £305,000, which represents the maximum contribution possible for this scheme, according to meeting information for the Land Rear Of 472 Wandsworth Road application.
While the officer recommendation was to grant conditional planning permission, subject to the completion of a Section 106 agreement, the committee discussed various aspects of the proposal. The formal notification of the committee's decision will be sent to the applicant and any interested parties who made written representations, and the minutes from the meeting will be published on the council's website.
