Wormwood Scrubs Meadow has officially been designated a Local Nature Reserve (LNR), increasing the protected area within Wormwood Scrubs to 29.15 hectares, representing 38% of the open space.
The Wormwood Scrubs Charitable Trust Committee celebrated the designation at its meeting on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. The designation, finalised in May 2025 by the LBHF legal team, underscores the commitment of the committee and Hammersmith and Fulham Council to addressing the climate and ecological emergency. The Wormwood Scrubs Charitable Trust Committee also discussed future plans for the area, including access improvements and ecological enhancements.
The committee also received a community safety report, which outlined the work undertaken by the Law Enforcement Officers (LET) in Wormwood Scrubs. The LET comprises 72 uniformed officers and operates 24/7, 362 days a year. The report detailed 175 high visibility patrols conducted between February and May 2025. The Law Enforcement Team issued a Community Protection Warning in May to a known dog walking company.
Other key items discussed at the meeting included the decommissioning of the KAA2 site, updates on the Linford Christie Sports Centre capital programme, and the future of Park Lodge. The committee also noted an update on the Braybrook Street Play Area Improvement Scheme and the MUGA re-surfacing programme at Old Oak Family Hub.
