Haringey Council is reviewing its resident engagement strategy, with a focus on amplifying resident voices and improving housing services. The Housing, Planning and Development Scrutiny Panel met on Monday 23 June 2025, to discuss the Resident Engagement Annual Review for 2023-24 and other housing-related issues.
The review highlighted the importance of resident involvement in shaping services. In October 2023, a new governance engagement structure was introduced, recruiting 60 residents, 63% of whom were newly involved. This structure includes Continuous Improvement Groups (CIGs) and Task and Finish Groups, feeding into the Resident Voice Board, as well as the Resident Advisory Panel (RAP).
Outcomes from resident engagement include a co-produced repairs handbook, a review of the Resident Expenses Policy, and co-designed policies on disrepair and damp and mould. Specific projects like the Ermine Road Project and the Northumberland Park project have also benefited from resident input.
The panel also received a report on housing adaptations, outlining how the Occupational Therapy (OT) Aids and Adaptations service works with Housing. The report noted a 90% satisfaction rate for the service provided, but also highlighted challenges including complex cases and delays. To address these, a programme board has been initiated to monitor key areas and improve coordination between departments.
In addition, the panel reviewed housing service performance, comparing results for 2023/24 and 2024/25 across various areas, including repairs and voids, compliance, and tenancy management. The full agenda and reports are available online.
