Sutton's Hamptons Wetlands Nature Reserve is set to receive £13,000 for repairs and security enhancements to its external boundary fence. The funding, allocated by the North Cheam, Stonecot and Worcester Park Local Committee, aims to prevent misuse and vandalism of the area.
The funding was discussed at the committee's meeting on 11 November 2025, as part of a broader local funding update. The committee reviewed various funding opportunities available in Sutton, including the Neighbourhood Fund, Sutton Community Fund, and Local Committee Funding.
The Hamptons Wetlands Nature Reserve fencing project falls under the Local Committee Public Realm Funding, a rolling programme designed to improve local public spaces. According to the Public Reports Pack, £19,660 has been committed to projects in 2025/26, with £43,835.89 remaining available for allocation. Other projects funded from the £19,660 include new bins on Buckland Way, new perennial plants, two new entrance signs on Hamilton Ave, inclusive play equipment and paved circle refurbishment at Fairlands Park, Hamptons boardwalk improvements in Pigs Alley, and a new bench in Yardley Rec.
The agenda for the meeting also included updates on winter preparedness, a community showcase by the Sutton Model Engineering Club & Miniature Railway, and a presentation by Citizens Advice Sutton.
