The Sutton Model Engineering Club & Miniature Railway showcased their work at the North Cheam, Stonecot and Worcester Park Local Committee meeting on Tuesday, 11 November 2025.

The club was invited to talk about their work and what they offer the community. The presentation was part of the Community Showcase segment of the meeting.

The meeting also covered a range of other topics, including a local funding update and winter preparedness. For Local Committee Funding (neighbourhood grants), £3,420 had been awarded to date in 2025/26, with £2,080 remaining to allocate. For Local Committee Public Realm Funding, £19,660.00 had been committed to projects in 2025/26, with £43,835.89 remaining available. Groups can apply for up to £1,400 from local committees for community events and projects. For Public Realm funding, the NCSWP LC - local funding update document states, If you have any ideas for new projects please email publicrealm@sutton.gov.uk.

The local funding update included information about various funding opportunities in Sutton, such as the Sutton Community Fund, Local Committee Funding (neighbourhood grants), and Local Committee Public Realm Funding. Several projects are bidding for funding, including:

  • Cuddington Rec Multi-use Play Unit: Top-up funding of £36,000.
  • Revitalising Worcester Park Library's Community Pocket Garden: £5,000.
  • Quickdraw History Comics: £5,200 for workshops at Whitehall Historic House.
  • Whitehall Welcomes: An Accessible & Engaging Future: £85,236 to develop Whitehall House as a hub for community wellbeing and special educational needs opportunities.

Projects supported in 2025/26 to date with Local Committee Funding include the Monday Club- Royal British Legion Social Club Worcester Park, Ruskin Drive Friends & Residents Big Lunch, St Raphael's Hospice Volunteer Celebration Day, Radio St Helier Live from the Care Home, and Royal British Legion Worcester Park Remembrance Sunday costs of piper, trumpeter and PA system.

Public realm projects in progress include new bins on Buckland Way, new perennial plants, new entrance signs on Hamilton Ave, Fairlands Park inclusive play equipment, Fairlands Park paved circle refurbishment, Hamptons boardwalk improvements - Pigs Alley, and a new bench in Yardley Rec.
