Enfield Council is set to debate support for men's mental health, as well as a range of other local issues, at its meeting scheduled for 24 June 2025.
The meeting will include a motion from Councillor Maria Alexandrou urging the council to focus support on men's mental well-being, particularly during November, which is Men's Health Awareness Month. The meeting agenda also includes discussions on housing, divestment from companies complicit in international law violations, and the council's treasury management outturn report.
Key items on the agenda include the approval of the Housing & Growth Strategy 2025-2030, which outlines the council's vision for creating more and better homes in Enfield. The strategy focuses on seven priorities, including building affordable homes, investing in council homes, tackling homelessness, and creating healthy neighbourhoods. According to the report, it also sets out the Council's key asks of the new Government, including more consistent long-term funding to support Council's to both improve their existing homes and to contribute towards new housebuilding.
Councillors will also debate a petition with 3,368 signatures calling for the council to withdraw investments from companies producing materials used in violations of international law. The petition states that divestment is a moral imperative and a demonstration of Enfield Council's commitment to justice and human rights.
Furthermore, the Treasury Management Outturn Report 2024/25 will be presented, detailing the council's treasury activities and investment performance. The council is asked to note the Treasury Outturn position for 2024/25, and to approve an update to the council's investment policy by increasing the limit on deposits placed with UK Banks from £5 million to £25 million, providing the counter party meets the minimum long term credit rating of A-.
Several other motions are scheduled for discussion, including proposals related to the Armed Forces Covenant, exemptions for blue badge holders in Low Traffic Neighbourhoods, and support for Woodcroft Wildspace. The council will also consider the appointment of Perry Scott as Chief Executive and a dispensation for Councillors Gina Needs and Nia Stevens regarding meeting attendance requirements.
