Despite a 2% decrease in overall crime, Haringey remains the 11th highest borough in London for crime rates, according to a report discussed at the Haringey Community Safety Partnership meeting on Wednesday, 25 June 2025. The borough recorded just over 28,000 crimes in the 12-month period ending in June 2025.
The report highlighted that the crime rate in Haringey is 97 per 1,000 population. Theft, violence, and vehicle offences are the most commonly reported crimes, with Noel Park, Northumberland Park, and South Tottenham experiencing the highest volumes.
Reductions were noted in key crime types, including youth violence, robbery, and violence with injury. However, public perception of the police remains a concern. Haringey ranks 16th in London, with 44% of residents believing the police do a good job in the local area. While this is slightly below the London average of 45%, it represents a 3% improvement over the past year.
The Haringey Community Safety Partnership has secured £2.9 million in funding over four years to address these issues. Priorities for this funding include reducing violence, increasing trust and confidence, supporting victims, and tackling violence against women and girls, as well as serious youth violence and criminal exploitation. The funding includes allocations from the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) and the Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) for initiatives such as early intervention, drug-related anti-social behaviour programs, and support for victims of domestic violence. Councillor Ajda Ovat, Cabinet Member for Communities, co-chairs the Community Safety Partnership.
The meeting also included a stocktake of the Haringey Community Safety Partnership, focusing on reaffirming priorities and testing the partnership's goals and progress tracking methods.
