Hillingdon's Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) is set to discuss an Interfaith Dialogue Event planned for January 2026 (HMD+) at its meeting on Wednesday, 25 June 2025, at William Byrd Primary School. The meeting, open to the public, will also cover a range of topics including updates on religious education (RE) in schools, the Agreed Syllabus Conference (ASC), and the HSACRE action plan.
According to the agenda, the council will receive an update from the working group on the Interfaith Dialogue Event. Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD), an annual international day of remembrance on 27 January, will be a key focus.
The Hillingdon Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education will also address local updates, including a school art competition and the creation of an RE calendar incorporating religious festivals. RE in schools will be another key area of discussion, with primary and secondary e-surveys being reviewed to gauge how RE is currently taught. The council previously set up an e-survey to gauge how RE is being taught in schools and arranged termly teacher sessions.
Furthermore, the council will delve into national updates on assessment and curriculum review, including a discussion of the NASACRE National Conference held on 19 May 2025. The HSACRE Action Plan for 2024-2025 will also be updated, with discussions around the budget, where Michael Hawkins, Head of Education and Lifelong Learning, is named in the report pack in relation to the budget, and self-evaluation arrangements. The meeting will also include an audit of its members.
