Hampstead residents may soon see an increase in CCTV coverage as Camden Council considers a proposal to deploy three new cameras in the district to combat anti-social behaviour (ASB). The potential move was discussed at a recent Hampstead District Management Committee meeting on Thursday, 26 June 2025.
The proposed CCTV cameras are part of a larger discussion on community safety and addressing ASB in the Hampstead area. A report presented at the meeting highlighted that drug use and rough sleeping are among the top ASB activities reported in the Hampstead DMC area from April 2024 to April 2025. The CCTV proposal is part of a £26,575 bid submitted for consideration by the Hampstead District Management Committee. Other bids included £10,000 towards a new video door entry system for 15 Belsize Avenue TRA, £16,820 for well-being activities and equipment for sheltered residents, and £4,200 for a secure bike shed at Sidney Boyd Court.
The Community Safety Team Leader's report also highlighted the top ASB activities in other DMC areas, including drug use and drug dealing in Kentish Town, Gospel Oak, Holborn, and Camden Town.
