Lewisham Council's Mayor and Cabinet has approved the designation of Forest Hill District Centre as a high street rental auction area. This decision, made at a meeting on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, aims to tackle long-term vacancies and boost the vitality of the area's high street.
The designation was made under sections 191–193 of the Levelling Up and Regeneration Act 2023 and the High Street Rental Auctions (England) Regulations 2024. The council is satisfied that this designation is likely to reduce vacancy rates in qualifying high street premises and will be beneficial to the local economy, society, and environment of the area.
Authority has been delegated to the Executive Director of Place to implement the designation and exercise the powers associated with High Street Rental Auctions in accordance with the relevant legislation.
