In relation to the gender pensions gap, the board noted that shorter absences of 15 days or less will now be pensionable. This change is part of broader consultations on access and fairness within the pension scheme. For the 2025 valuation, a more streamlined reporting process has been adopted, with more in-depth reporting expected from 2028 onwards.

These changes in reporting and the pensionability of shorter absences are directly linked to the ongoing consultations concerning access and fairness within the pension scheme, which are key aspects of addressing the gender pensions gap.

The meeting agenda, available as Agenda frontsheet 19th-Mar-2026 10.00 Pension Board, outlined several other key discussion points, including the Triennial Valuation and Funding Strategy Statement Update, Pension Administration Performance Update, and a Governance and Risk Update.
