Greenwich Council is set to consult the public on the Greenwich Liveable Neighbourhood scheme as part of the Transportation work programme for 2025/26, aiming to enhance the area for residents and visitors.

The decision to consult was noted at the Transport and Place Scrutiny Panel meeting on Thursday, 03 July 2025, where the council's transport work programme for 2025-26 was discussed. The scheme is part of a broader effort to improve the safety and accessibility of streets and public spaces, particularly for pedestrians and cyclists.

The Transport Work Programme includes a range of initiatives, such as:

  • Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure expansion
  • Cycleway developments
  • Reviewing Healthy Sustainable Streets
  • Road safety schemes
  • Developing a borough wide 20mph proposal

These initiatives align with the council's Transport Strategy, which aims to reduce car dependency, improve air quality, and support growth by enhancing access to jobs and services.

The Transport Work Programme Update presented at the meeting, details the progress of various projects. According to the Transport Strategy Update, the borough is on track to meet its targets for walking, cycling, and public transport usage.

The council is also focusing on improving public transport uptake and has secured funding for bus priority measures. These measures aim to enhance bus speeds and reliability, making public transport a more attractive option for residents.

Further updates on the Greenwich Liveable Neighbourhood Scheme will be provided as the consultation progresses. The council encourages residents to participate in the consultation to help shape the future of their neighbourhood.
