Hillingdon Council has approved the purchase of 32 new diesel vehicles for its fleet, a decision made during a Cabinet meeting on Thursday, June 25, 2026. The acquisition represents an investment of £863,174 and includes 15 small light commercial vehicles (LCVs), five medium LCVs, two 3.5-tonne tipper vehicles, and ten 3.5-tonne tip and T.Pod vehicles.

The breakdown of the investment by vehicle type is as follows: £299,462 for the 15 small LCVs, £119,088 for the five medium LCVs, £71,334 for the two 3.5-tonne tipper vehicles, and £373,290 for the ten 3.5-tonne tip and T.Pod vehicles.

Councillor Wayne Bridges, Cabinet Member for Residents Services, stated that these vehicles are replacing end-of-life models that were subject to daily Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) charges. He assured that the fleet would transition to electric vehicles over time, dependent on the development of charging infrastructure and grid capacity.
