King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has exited the cancer tiered system after demonstrating improved and sustained performance and meeting required standards.

The announcement was made during a Bromley Council Health Scrutiny Sub-Committee meeting on Thursday, 3 July 2025, where Angela Helleur, Site Chief Executive of the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH), provided an update on the trust's performance.

According to the meeting minutes, the trust's exit from the tiered system is a result of improved and sustained performance in cancer care. One factor contributing to this improvement was that 80% of patients at the Trust were seen within 28 days in August 2024, exceeding NHS England's target of 75%.

The Health Scrutiny Sub-Committee also received updates from Bromley Healthcare and the South East London Integrated Care Board (SEL ICB) during the meeting. The agenda for the meeting covered a range of topics, including patient experience reports and the committee's work programme. The Quarter 4 Patient Experience Report for Healthwatch Bromley, covering January – March 2025, was presented, providing key findings and recommendations regarding GP services, hospital services, dentists and pharmacies.
