Harrods' iconic facade will be partially covered by a temporary wrap as essential repair works are carried out on its West Turret. The Planning Applications Committee of Kensington and Chelsea Council approved advertisement consent for the installation of a 7.5m x 15m externally illuminated static display façade wrap. The wrap, which will be in a Trompe-l'oeil style, is associated with essential repair works to the West Turret of the Grade II* listed Harrods building
and is expected to be in place until January 2028.
Historic England raised no objection to the proposal, noting its temporary nature and the context of the necessary scaffolding required for the repair works. The committee granted consent with conditions limiting the duration of the wrap and the brightness of its illumination, although specific details on these limitations were not provided in the meeting information.
