Bus service performance data in Bexley has been impacted by a cyberattack on Transport for London's (TfL) IT systems. The disruption has led to gaps in the latest quarterly reports, hindering a full assessment of bus route performance in the borough.

The Transport Users' Sub-Committee (TUSC) meeting on 17 July 2025, received updates on bus service performance monitoring. The meeting agenda included a report on bus performance for the fourth quarter of 2024-25 (January to March 2025). However, data for the first quarter of 2024-25 was unavailable due to the cyberattack on TfL's IT systems, resulting in gaps in the tables and charts .

The quarterly report typically provides detailed analysis of:

  • High frequency routes: Scheduled waiting time (SWT), Excess waiting time in minutes (EWT), Average waiting time (AWT)
  • Low frequency routes: Chance of a bus departing on time, Chance of a bus not running, Chance of a bus running early, Chance of a bus running late
  • Quality Service Indicators: Historic trends for average quarterly performance over the previous 3-4 years.

Without the Q1 data, comparisons and trend analysis are limited. The absence of this data impacts the ability to identify and address potential issues with bus service performance in Bexley. The Public Reports Pack presented to the committee included a note stating, Please note that, due to the cyberattack of TfL's I.T. systems, data was not available for the Q1 2024-25 period, resulting in gaps in the tables and charts.
