Lime, the e-bike hire company, is increasing its Lewisham on-street team to address parking issues and reduce obstructions caused by abandoned e-bikes. The move is part of a £20 million London Action Plan, which includes a 60% increase in its on-street team.
The company says it will now have 20 staff working in Lewisham to tidy and remove bikes and address issues on-street. Lime also reports that it warns and/or fines almost 1,000 riders in Lewisham each month for poor parking or abandoning their vehicles inappropriately.
Lime says it is committed to working with Lewisham Council and stakeholders to improve on-street conditions, especially as the borough expands its parking bay rollout. The company's proposal for long-term investment in the borough focuses on its on-street teams to improve parking and vehicle management.
Lime also has a £5 million parking infrastructure fund available to support Lewisham in building additional parking locations to keep up with soaring demand for shared e-bikes in the borough and ensure sufficient parking is available for residents.
