Lewisham commuters on the Sydenham to London Bridge route will see increased peak capacity starting in December, according to Southern Rail. The announcement was made at the Public Transport Liaison Forum meeting on 14 October 2025, as detailed in the Public Reports Pack.
Southern Rail stated that additional weekday peak Southern services between Norwood Junction and London Bridge via Sydenham would be introduced to alleviate crowding on the busy route. The decision to add these services, as outlined in the meeting documents, aims to increase peak capacity on this heavily used line. This builds upon improvements made in December 2024, when three extra morning peak services and two extra evening peak services were added.
In the morning, an additional Southern service from Norwood Junction will call at all intermediary stations and arrive at London Bridge at 09:03. In the evening, an additional Southern service will depart London Bridge at 18:10 towards Sutton, stopping at all stations between London Bridge and Norwood Junction.
