Lewisham station is set for upgrades in early 2026, including the relocation of the gateline to platform 1 to ease congestion, and canopy refurbishment planned for 2026/27.
The announcement was made at the Public Transport Liaison Forum meeting on Tuesday, 14 October 2025, where Southeastern/Network Rail representatives addressed questions about station improvements.
The gateline relocation on Platform 1 is a capacity-relief scheme designed to create more space in the station.
According to meeting documents, Lewisham Council has some funding available through Section 106 agreements for station improvements, and discussions are underway with council officers to determine the best use of these funds. The exact amount and timeline are not specified. One option being considered is further development work for an additional station exit on Platform 4.
Southeastern/Network Rail stated that work is continuing on a capacity-relief scheme that will see the gateline to platform 1 moved, to create more space in the station. This work is expected to be substantially complete in early 2026.
