Redbridge Council has approved the Modernising Redbridge Programme, a comprehensive initiative designed to overhaul the council's operations in response to increasing demands and financial pressures. The programme aims to reinvent the way the council operates by investing in people, processes, and platforms.
The decision was made during a cabinet meeting on 13 November 2025, where councillors discussed the need for a structured, whole-council response
to challenges including austerity, rising inequality, and a growing population. The council faces significant financial pressures, as detailed in the Budget Strategy and Initial Proposals - Report, which necessitates a strategic approach to resource allocation.
The Modernising Redbridge Programme is designed to address strains on various council operations, from housing and adult social care to school admissions and customer contact. The council aims to create more joined-up services and a stronger culture of responsiveness. To ensure the programme's effectiveness, the council will conduct Resident, Staff and Partner survey activities to further inform the programme and establish a baseline for measuring progress, according to the meeting minutes.
