Residents of Cranford are being encouraged to participate in a consultation regarding proposed red route restrictions along Church Road. The consultation, which is now live, allows residents to view the plans and submit feedback online. The proposed 'no-stop red route' from the beginning of Church Road to the nursery is part of a boroughwide consultation on waiting restrictions and aims to address road hazards, fly tipping, and pavement obstructions, ensuring safer conditions for pedestrians and drivers.
If no objections are raised during the 21-day consultation period, the restrictions will be implemented.
The consultation was announced during the Heston and Cranford Area Forum meeting on Monday 30 June 2025, where Councillor Vikram Grewal encouraged Cranford residents to take part in the consultation to ensure their views were included in the final decision.
The Church Road proposal is part of a wider effort to improve road safety and the environment in the Cranford area. According to the Area Forum Action Plan presentation slides - 30 June 2025, a site visit was carried out with the Council's Street Cleansing and Grounds Maintenance teams. As a result, overgrown vegetation has been cleared, footways are now accessible, a large fly-tip is being cleared, and asbestos near the traveller site will be removed shortly. While no potholes currently meet repair thresholds, a full road condition survey is planned. Additionally, barriers near the nursery have been removed, with remaining ones to follow, and grounds maintenance will now take place monthly. Two new lighting columns have been installed and are operational.
