Chiswick, London - WildChiswick, a local organisation dedicated to boosting biodiversity and green spaces, was introduced to Hounslow Council at the Chiswick Area Forum meeting on Wednesday, 2 July 2025.
The introduction provided an opportunity for councillors and the community to learn more about local conservation efforts and potential collaborations. The forum, which included Councillor Amy Croft ( Mayor), Councillor Joanna Biddolph, Councillor Jack Emsley, Councillor Gabriella Giles, Councillor Ranjit Gill, Councillor Gerald McGregor, Councillor Ron Mushiso, Councillor Peter Thompson, and Councillor John Todd, aimed to foster a better understanding of WildChiswick's work in the area, according to the meeting agenda available on opencouncil.network.
The meeting also addressed several ongoing community concerns, including updates on weed management from Hounslow Highways, abandoned e-bikes, improvements to the 'fix my street' app, and responses to concerns about events at Gunnersbury Park.
Regarding events at Gunnersbury Park, Councillor Joanna Biddolph, who had previously requested the issue be added to the tracker as a continuous year-long concern, advised that planning was underway to mitigate against some of the concerns raised by residents ahead of this year's events.
The issue of abandoned e-bikes, particularly those left outside of designated parking bays, was also discussed. Councillor Peter Thompson advised that council officers had met with representatives from Lime, the e-bike company, who undertook to be more proactive in collecting abandoned bikes.
Improvements to the 'fix my street' app are also in the works. Tim Hurley from Hounslow Highways met with app representatives to discuss outgoing message options. This followed concerns raised by Councillor Joanna Biddolph about the high number of notifications sent after reporting an issue. Training for staff on logging new reports will also be undertaken.
