Haringey Council has approved its budget for the upcoming year, which includes a 2.99% increase in the council tax. The decision was made during a Full Council meeting on Monday, March 16, 2026.

In addition to the council tax rise, a further 2% increase will be applied for the Adult Social Care Precept. The General Fund budget requirement for 2026/27 has been set at £353.027 million.

The budget resolution, which includes the level of council tax, was passed, with the council determining that the basic amount of council tax for the year is not excessive.

During the debate on the budget, a Liberal Democrat group amendment was moved and seconded, but it was voted against and lost. The Council has a statutory duty to set a balanced budget for 2026/27 by 11 March 2026; accordingly, no other options were considered for adoption. The council's budget also reflects its commitment to environmental targets. The Haringey Climate Change Action Plan (HCCAP) aims for the council to be net zero by 2027 and the borough to be net zero by 2041.

In 2023, Haringey's emissions saw a 6% reduction compared to 2022, with domestic emissions being the largest contributor at 44%.
