Harrow Council has approved a £550,000 contract increase with Royal Mail to maintain postal services until September 13, 2026. The decision, made during a Cabinet meeting on 24 July 2025, also includes a commitment to collaborate with other London boroughs to re-procure the Royal Mail postage contract.
The Royal Mail contract covers the use by the Council's Post Room and third party suppliers for Revenues & Benefits and Parking. The contract increase of £550,000 is to ensure sufficient funds are available for the expected volume of outbound postage. The printed minutes of the meeting confirm the decision, noting that the cabinet agreed to the recommendations set out on page 164 of the reports pack.
The cabinet also agreed that the London Borough of Harrow would collaborate with other London boroughs to re-procure the Royal Mail postage contract. The report does not specify which boroughs Harrow Council is planning to collaborate with. The current contract expires on 13th September 2026.
The decision is subject to call-in, with a deadline of 5:00 PM on August 1, 2025.
