Ravenswood Crescent residents have petitioned Harrow Council for traffic calming and safety measures, citing hazardous conditions due to uneven pavements and ongoing parking issues.
The petition, presented by Councillor Krishna Suresh at a recent Cabinet meeting, calls for:
- Repairs to dangerous and uneven pavement sections, particularly those left unfilled after tree removal.
- Introduction of designated safe parking bays to regulate vehicle parking.
- Enforcement of regulations to prevent illegal parking on pavements and grass areas.
- Ensuring waste bins do not obstruct pavements or reduce parking space.
The petition, signed by 97 residents, highlights concerns regarding the safety and quality of life in the neighbourhood, particularly for elderly residents, parents with prams, and children accessing Newton Farm School and the nearby park. According to the meeting information, it is not known whether there have been previous attempts to address these specific issues on Ravenswood Crescent.
Councillor Suresh summarised the residents' concerns, stating the measures are urgently needed to make the Ravenswood Crescent safer and more accessible to everyone particularly vulnerable groups such as elderly residents young children and families
.
The petition has been referred to the relevant Strategic Directors and Portfolio Holders for consideration.
