Harrow Council has announced the reopening of its general inquiries phone line next week, reversing a decision made in 2019 to close the service.

The General Inquiries phone line was originally closed by the Labour administration in 2019.

The announcement was made by Councillor Paul Osborne, Leader of the Council, during a Council meeting on 18 September 2025.

Councillor Osborne stated that the move was part of a broader effort to improve access to council services for residents. In addition to the phone line, a face-to-face contact point in Harrow will open by the end of the year in Gaten Road without needing appointments. This initiative aims to provide residents with more options for contacting the council and resolving their queries.

The decision to reopen the general inquiries phone line comes after concerns were raised by residents about the difficulty of contacting the council. Councillor Osborne said that the council had listened to these concerns and was committed to making it easier for residents to get in touch.

The reopening of the phone line has been welcomed by residents and councillors alike. Councillor Osborne said that he was confident that the new service would be a valuable asset to the community.
