Redbridge Council is set to trial food waste collection starting 24 November 2025, with plans to expand the service borough-wide in stages.
The trial round for food waste collections has been agreed upon, and vehicle procurement is underway. Food waste containers have been ordered by the council, according to the RCS Quarterly Performance Report.
The long-term plan involves a phased rollout:
- Trial rounds
- Introduction of the service to individual households
- Introduction of the service to communal properties and flats above shops
However, the implementation approach has been revised following recent conversations. Stages 2 and 3 are now expected to launch concurrently, accelerating the expansion of the service.
