Battersea Park ward is grappling with a rise in robberies and burglaries, according to the latest reports presented at the Wandsworth Safer Neighbourhood Board meeting on Wednesday, 8th October 2025. Jan Forbes, Battersea Park Ward Panel Chair, highlighted the concerning trend. According to the Ward Panel Updates [https://democracy.wandsworth.gov.uk/documents/s122337/WardPaneUpdatesOctober2025.pdf], personal robberies have increased from 8 to 14, and vehicle crime has increased from 48 to 49 when comparing the previous period to the current period. Residential burglaries have decreased slightly from 16 to 14. Forbes also noted that the rise in robberies and burglaries often involves the use of Sur-ron bikes. These electric dirt bikes, capable of road use, are reportedly being used in the commission of these crimes.
Vehicle component thefts are also on the rise, with expensive and untraceable parts being targeted. Forbes also pointed out that officer abstraction is high, with 60% of officers undergoing New Met for London training. In response, Operation Roar has been established to specifically address bike-enabled thefts in the area.
The ward panel priorities for Battersea Park remain unchanged for the third consecutive quarter. Forbes also mentioned that the next meeting is scheduled for 21st October, with hopes of securing the same venue, hopefully in the same excellent venue, if funds can be found to pay the hire fee.
