Bromley Council has secured a 12-month extension of UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) funding across three priority Growth Plan Areas. The announcement was made at the Bromley Economic Partnership meeting on 1 July 2025.

The UKSPF is a central pillar of the UK government’s levelling up agenda, providing £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025.

New funding is planned to support the Inward Investment Service rollout and public realm improvements to Elmfield Road, according to the meeting's reports pack.

The Bromley Economic Partnership also received an update on the Economic Development Service. The last update, given in April 2025, included the following workstreams:

  • Business Engagement and Inward Investment: The council is working on the brand for the new Inward Investment Service, a promotional video, and developing the website.
  • Business Support: Designing and delivering business support programmes tailored to entrepreneurs and high-growth SMEs in the borough.
  • Employment and Skills: Creating an Employment and Skills Board to oversee the Strategic Plan and the Connect to Work implementation programme. The council is working on establishing the in-house supported work model, which in Bromley will be called Bromley Work.

At the April 2025 meeting, representatives from ITS Technology Group provided an update regarding the practical use of the dark fibre network to benefit the borough and businesses in Bromley. At that time, it was noted that 77 kilometres of dark fibre network had been laid across the borough, and that the dark fibre network had been used to connect community hubs and CCTV, with tangible cost savings to the council.
