Hounslow Council is investing in its high streets, with a particular focus on Cranford Parade, through a Pride in Place
funded project aimed at tackling shopfront blight and enhancing visual appeal.
The initiative will see improvements to signage and repainting of local shopfronts, with the goal of making the area more attractive to visitors and stimulating local spending. The Cranford Local Shopfront Improvement project is part of a wider Pride in Place
impact fund, a £1.5 million allocation from central government for neighbourhood investment.
This fund was distributed based on metrics such as deprivation and social infrastructure, including libraries, community centres, and youth provision. Central government used this data to create a 'heat map' across the UK to identify areas with the highest indicators of deprivation, leading to Hounslow receiving £1.5 million.
Mariam Abdallah, Area Regen Manager, provided an update on the fund's impact. The Cranford Local Shopfront Improvement project, along with other Pride in Place
funded initiatives, is scheduled for completion by March 2027. The expected outcome is to create a more attractive and welcoming local area, encouraging visitors to spend more time and money.
Further enhancing Cranford Parade, a partnership with Transport for London is underway to implement greening improvements.
These enhancements are expected to focus on improving green spaces and could include the installation of cycle hangers, seating, and new planting. The aim of these greening efforts is also to make the area more attractive and welcoming.
