Plans to redevelop a building at 110-112 Putney High Street have been approved by Wandsworth Council's Conservation and Heritage Advisory Committee. The proposal includes rear extensions and a front mansard roof extension to the existing ground floor commercial space, with a change of use at the upper floors to create nine new residential units.
The committee unanimously supported the application, noting that it would retain the building's original facade while redeveloping the rest. Members felt that the addition of a mansard roof would enhance the street view.
The redevelopment of the upper floors will create nine new residential units in total: 2 studio flats, 3 one-bedroom units, and 3 two-bedroom units. The current use of the ground floor is commercial space, and the proposal includes alterations to this area with rear extensions and the aforementioned mansard roof extension.
However, the committee requested further consideration regarding the structural support for the proposed double-height window. Concern was raised about how the floorplates would manage and support this feature, and other associated matters regarding the flat proposed above it. The applicant has been asked to provide further details on these structural solutions.
