Progress on the redevelopment of the Furzedown Lodge site has stalled, with council officers awaiting crucial input from other Council departments on the best use for the council-owned land.
The Conservation and Heritage Advisory Committee expressed disappointment at the lack of movement on the site during their meeting on Thursday, January 8, 2026. The committee was informed that while a pre-application meeting had been completed, further progress was contingent on input from these other departments, whose role is to determine the most suitable use for the land.
Michael Jubb, the Chair of the committee, stated that the situation was disappointing
given the significant time already invested in the renewal of the site. He requested that Conservation Officers liaise with the relevant departments to expedite the process.
